Haul Part 2! MUA Nail Constellation and Rimmel London Lycra Pro Matte Finish

Firstly, I would like to apologise for the huge delay in writing this! You can find the first part of this post here   http://turquoisetalons.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/haul-part-1-mua-fur-effect-nails.html .

The second item I bought was a bottle of metallic beads for nail art by MUA called Nail Constellation. It is available in different colours named after starsigns, I got Scorpio which includes gold, green, purple and red metallic beads.

The third and final item I bought was a matte topcoat by Rimmel London called Matte Finish. I was interested in buying a matte topcoat after seeing some contrasting nail art designs.

Haul Part 1! MUA Fur-Effect Nails.

On Saturday I went shopping and visited Superdrug. Whilst I was there I bought a few nail products which I will share with you, firstly starting with the one I am most excited about.

After seeing some really interesting textured nail art using flocking powder I was keen to buy some. Luckily, a friend told me that MUA sold a similar product. Fur-Effect Nails comes in 1.5g pots which are available in 5 colours: a light pink called Fluffy Puff, a fuschia pink called Fuzzy Fluff, an indigo called Fluffy Bobbin, a purple called Fluff and Cuddles and a blue called BooBoo Fluff (my favourite of the names). Only three of the colours were available in the shop when I visited: the light pink, the indigo and the blue. I decided to get the indigo, Fluffy Bobbin.

Inside the pot is a sifter lid and under that is the fluff which you can see some of in the lid in the photo above. I haven't tried it yet but I hope to soon and will share the results with you.

I plan to post about the other two products I bought soon.

Leopard Print Nails

On Friday I tried a very popular nail design for the first time. I have seen many varieties of leopard print nails before in different colours, sizes and much more. Because it was my first time I decided to stick to the traditional colours. This is what I did.

I followed a technique I saw in a tutorial by the youtuber cutepolish which you can see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0Oz6-53eyI .

The polishes I used were the Basecoat, Topcoat and Nail Hardener by Barry M which I used for my basecoat and topcoat, a Mirror Mirror gold nail varnish for my base colour, a brown beautyuk nail polish called Posh Puddle for the spots and a Mirror Mirror black nail art pen for the outlining.

Leopard print is a very versatile and easy design which I reccommend you try.

Simple but Sparkly

+ review for Barry M Silvery Lilac

I have been wanting to try some nail varnishes I received for my birthday just over a month ago and have finally found the chance to use one of them.

I used a Barry M nail paint called Silvery Lilac that I was given by a friend. It is a lovely metallic colour that covers the nail well in two coats and has a nice sparkle from the tiny pieces of glitter in it. It has lasted well and even though I painted them on Tuesday there are only small chips at the ends of my nails. I used the Barry M Basecoat, Topcoat and Nail Hardener as a basecoat and topcoat. To add a little bit of extra sparkle to this I added a small nail art gem near the cuticle of my ring fingers to create a very simple but effective look.

So far I really recommend this nail polish, especially because Barry M is a very affordable brand. Currently I would give it a 5 out of 5. I haven't tried removing it yet though and that can be difficult for glittery polishes. Luckily the glitter in this is extremely fine so it shouldn't be too difficult.

New Years Nails!

Firework Nails

Hello everyone. To celebrate the end of a great year and hopefully the beginning of another I've done some nail art. What's the most popular way to celebrate the New Year? Fireworks!

I achieved this look by firstly painting all my nails in a clear basecoat, I used the Barry M basecoat which is a basecoat, topcoat and nail hardener all in one. I then painted all my nails in the black nail polish from the 17 Mini Nail Library. Don't worry too much if it is sheer in places, the night sky isn't completely black. I then painted the design in white, to make the bright colours stand out more over the black, using a two way white nail art pen from Claire's. Finally, I went over the white in different colours. I used a Marks & Spencer red nail colour, Perfection Long Wear Nail Laquer in pink, a beautyuk nail polish in Neon Orange, Sage Green also by beautyuk and a bright blue from Topshop. I received all of the colours I used for the fireworks recently for Christmas and am currently very impressed with the colour and quality. I applied them using cocktail sticks which I find is a very cheap and easy way to apply small details. I recommend that once you have finished and your nails have dried that you apply a clear topcoat.

This is a fun, easy and colourful nail art design which is really flexible and creative. The design doesn't have to be perfect, little mistakes are fine as fireworks are crazy explosions of colour which always vary.

I wish you all a very happy New Year and hope you enjoy your celebrations!
